Terms of service
Effective date: October 16, 2026
These Terms govern your use of MapMates, its website, and its iPhone and Android apps (the “Service”). “We,” “us,” and “our” mean Rushik Patel, an individual who operates the Service. “You” means the person using the Service. Questions about these Terms can be sent to wayfarerappadmin@gmail.com.
When you accept these Terms, you agree to follow them when using the Service. Do not use the Service if you do not agree to these Terms. These Terms include limitations of liability and disclaimers of warranties; they apply only to the extent the law permits.
Your account and use of the Service
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for the activity you authorize through your account. Keep the information you provide accurate and do not use another person's account without permission. Let us know at wayfarerappadmin@gmail.com if you believe your account has been compromised. To the extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for losses caused by your failure to protect your credentials.
You are responsible for the content you submit and for having the rights and permissions needed to use that content in the Service. Your use must comply with applicable law and must not infringe anyone else's rights. Do not use the Service to threaten or harass others, distribute malicious software, gain unauthorized access, interfere with other users, or disrupt the Service. Do not evade an access restriction or continue using an account after we have suspended or terminated your permission to use it.
You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. By creating an account, you confirm that you are.
Content you provide
You retain your ownership rights in content you submit to the Service, such as photos, recommendations, trips, and wishlists. You give us permission to host, store, reproduce, transmit, and display that content as needed to provide the Service to you and to carry out sharing or other actions you request, such as showing your posts to your accepted friends or a wishlist to the friends you share it with. This permission does not transfer ownership of your content to us. Personal information is also addressed in the Privacy policy.
You must have the rights necessary to give us that permission. We may refuse or remove content that violates these Terms or applicable law. We are not required to review every submission before it appears. The availability of content in the Service does not mean we endorse it.
Our Service and intellectual property
The Service, its original software, visual design, and branding belong to us or our licensors. Using the Service does not give you ownership of them. Except as permitted by law, an applicable license, or our written permission, you may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, resell, or commercially exploit the Service or its original content. Permission to use the Service does not include permission to use our name or logos in a way that suggests sponsorship or endorsement.
Third-party components remain subject to their own licenses. Map data comes from OpenStreetMap contributors under the Open Database License. Nothing in these Terms restricts rights those licenses grant you, rights granted by the policy text's Creative Commons notice below, or uses the law permits without our permission. The policy-text license does not license the application's original code, branding, user content, or other business material.
Fees
The Service is free. We will not charge you for it without first telling you the price and getting your agreement.
Suspension, termination, and account closure
To the extent permitted by law, we may suspend or end your access to the Service, remove content, or refuse future access for a violation of these Terms or for another lawful reason. We may act immediately where needed to protect the Service, its users, or others, or to comply with law. Suspension or termination can make your account and content inaccessible. We reserve these rights without promising that we will detect or act on every violation.
You may stop using the Service at any time. You can close your account yourself from Account, then Delete account, by confirming your password. Closing is immediate and cannot be undone. The Service does not yet offer a download of your content, so keep any copies you need before closing, or email wayfarerappadmin@gmail.com first to ask for a copy.
Account closure, removal of content, and deletion from retained systems or backups are different matters. What remains after closing, and for how long, is set out in the Privacy policy.
Changes and availability
We may change, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the Service, including features or access, subject to any notice or other obligation that applicable law or a separate agreement requires. We do not promise to maintain a particular feature or to provide uninterrupted availability. We may impose or change usage limits to protect the Service and other users.
We may revise these Terms. For a material change, we will post the revised Terms here with a new effective date and tell you in the Service or by email before the change takes effect. If you keep using the Service after that, the revised Terms apply; if you do not agree, stop using the Service and close your account. A change to these Terms cannot take away rights the law does not allow us to take away.
Other services and integrations
If you choose to use a separate service or integration with this Service, that provider's terms govern your relationship with it. We do not control third-party services and, to the extent permitted by law, are not responsible for their availability, actions, or omissions. This section does not grant a third party permission to access your account or personal information.
Warranties and service limitations
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will meet your requirements, be uninterrupted or error-free, or that every defect will be corrected. Place names, locations, and recommendations come from users and outside map data and may be wrong. You are responsible for deciding whether the Service is suitable for your use.
Nothing in these Terms excludes a warranty, guarantee, remedy, or other right that applicable law does not allow us to exclude.
Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we and our licensors will not be liable to you or any third party for direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages, or for loss of profits, goodwill, use, or data, arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms. This includes loss arising from inability to use the Service, unauthorized access to or alteration of data, and the conduct of others, regardless of the legal theory and even if we have been advised of the possibility of that loss.
This exclusion applies only to liability the law allows us to exclude. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability or rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
General terms and contact
If we do not exercise a right under these Terms in one instance, that does not mean we have waived that right. If a provision cannot lawfully be enforced, it will apply only to the extent permitted, and the remaining provisions will continue to apply where the law allows.
